How it works
We sell your car at the same auctions as the national car buying companies and the dealers offering you a part exchange sell at. The difference is, with us you keep a far higher proportion of sale price. We take your ‘elsewhere offer’ (or get one for you) and base our calculations on that. Whatever we get at auction, that initial ‘elsewhere offer’ is yours in its entirety. We then divide up the remaining portion, of which you keep 75% and we keep 25%.  

There will be some costs to deduct depending on what you’ve asked us to do, but these can be as little as just our £75+VAT discounted admin fee*. Any additional expense is entirely optional, clearly explained, and will only be undertaken with your consent and if in your best interests - i.e. the additional value at auction will exceed those costs.
Worked Example
  • ‘Elsewhere offer’ of £1,200.
  • Sale price at auction* £2,200
  • Difference = £1,000
    (£750 for you, £250 for us)
  • Costs £75+VAT (£90 in total)
  • You get £1,860 
  • (£1,200, plus £750, less our £75+VAT admin fee).
  • You made an additional £660 more than you were offered elsewhere.

Assessing whether our service is right for you

We think we offer an excellent service which is suitable for a lot of people, but we’re completely transparent and always try to find the best solution for you; we fully accept that may not be us. Before asking us to sell your car, it is wise to consider what is most important to you.

Positives:

  • Value - we are going to increase what you get for your vehicle
  • Confidence - you can’t get less (because we set a reserve)
  • No upfront cost - we’ll take care of everything
  • Convenience - we can collect, so you don’t even need to leave home if you don’t want to
  • Doing some good - we are incredibly proud that every car sold helps the homeless (please see below)
  • We’ll keep saying thank you - as a gesture of our gratitude for your support, we’ll send you a £10 Amazon voucher for each future customer you send our way.

 Negatives:

  • Money - you might get more if you were to prepare your car yourself and sell privately. If you are a confident seller and have the time, we would always suggest you do this.
  • Time - from handover to payment will take at least 10 working days, and often 15 or more if your car doesn’t meet reserve immediately. We pay you the day we receive your money from the auction house, but it won’t be immediately


Integrity - what we can do, and what we won't do

We will treat you fairly and with honesty, but those principles also extend to the buyers of cars we put into auction. We won’t hide faults; we will rectify them if you wish, or we will present your car at auction as they are. The trader who buys will have budgeted for reasonable repairs, so your car by no means has to be perfect (far from it!), but we are not in the business of hiding issues, so please do not ask us to do so. We will advise you as to your best course of action, i.e. which repairs will ‘pay for themselves’ (and can address these for you economically if you wish) and which are best left for the purchaser to resolve, always prioritising your best interests, but not by compromising our integrity.

Something far bigger
For every car sold, we will make a £30 donation in your name (or anonymously if you prefer) to either Crisis or to the London City Mission for their work with the homeless. Additionally, for more expensive vehicles, for every £1,000 we get you over your ‘other offer’, we will make an additional £30 donation. Knowing that we can help these organisations to make a real difference brings us joy and makes our work even more rewarding.
